Most coaches and consultants apologize when money comes up, and that apology destroys credibility. Instead, use direct professional framing: 'Let's talk about the financial side of the relationship' or 'How does the value exchange work here?' Ask 'How do you get paid in a situation like this?' and 'How much do you charge?' to understand the complete financial structure — not to be aggressive but to treat money as the legitimate business topic it is. The moment you soften or hedge around pricing, you signal that you're uncertain about your own value. Professional language assumes that compensation is a normal part of professional collaboration, which it is. State the financial terms clearly, and you'll attract clients who respect boundaries and take the engagement seriously from the start.
