Fear of success is the unconscious fear of wealth's consequences
Most people assume the barrier to wealth is capability. But I've found the deeper barrier is something else entirely: fear of success. This is when someone unconsciously fears what will happen if they actually win — the relationship friction that money creates, the increased responsibility, the liability exposure, the family members who will judge them for becoming 'one of those rich people.' These fears operate below the level of conscious awareness, which is what makes them so persistent. You can master every tactical skill and still sabotage yourself at the last moment because part of your mind is protecting you from the perceived cost of success. Surfacing and naming these fears is the first step to dissolving them.
